As part of the December 15th World Turkish Language Family Day, a program focusing on the shared memory and civilizational heritage of the Turkish language was organized in collaboration with our University and the Turkish Maarif Foundation. Held at the Turkish Maarif Foundation Centre and attended by our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız and our General Coordinator Prof. Dr. Ferit Küçükay, the program emphasized the strong bonds the Turkish language has forged between cultures over centuries, and the shared heritage passed down to future generations.
In his opening speech, our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız stated, "I extend my sincerest thanks to all the scientists who contributed to this program with their scientific presentations and ideas on the Turkish language family, to the academic and administrative staff of our University who contributed to the success of the organization with their dedicated work, and of course, to the Turkish Maarif Foundation for its meaningful support of this initiative."
Our Rector, who also chaired the panel titled “From Roots to the Future: The Shared Memory of Turkish: Monumental Works and Personalities,” stated that the panellists’ assessments addressed the historical depth, cultural continuity, and role of the Turkish language in civilization building in a multifaceted way. Author Beşir Ayvazoğlu and Yeditepe University faculty member Prof. Dr. Ahmet Taşağıl also contributed their knowledge and expertise to the program.
As part of the event, Mustafa Kutlu, who has contributed to the Turkish language and culture with his works for many years, was presented with the “Living Values of the Turkish Language Award.” The program concluded with thanks to all contributing speakers and a commemorative photo session.
