61st Anniversary of Migration from Turkey to Germany from the Past to the Future Conference

Organized in cooperation with TAU Migration and Integration Application and Research Center (TAGU) and the Directorate of Migration Management, the event titled 61st Anniversary of Migration from Turkey to Germany from the Past to the Future was held on 21 November 2022 at the SFL Conference Hall.

The opening speech of the conference, starting with the exhibition themed “Immigration to Germany with Photographs”,  was made by our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yildiz. Yıldız evaluated the Turkish-German University as a university that emerged from the strengthening of interstate relations by immigration and drew attention to the diplomatic and socio-economic dimensions of immigration to Germany. Emphasizing the reflections of migration in the cultural field in his speech, Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız underlined the effects of migration on individuals in language acquisition. 

Burak Yaşar, Directorate of Migration Management - Head of the Department of Integration Activities, who was invited to the stage to make his speech after our rector, emphasized the aspect of migration that affects human life and he expressed his pleasure in holding the 61st Year of Migration from Turkey to Germany from the Past to the Future Conference at the Turkish-German University. After his speech, Burak Yaşar, Directorate of Migration Management - Head of Department of Integration Activities was presented with a plaque of appreciation by our Rector.

In the first session of the conference, there were three presentations moderated by our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hamide Özden Özkaya Ferendeci. After Prof. Dr. Ulaş Sunata's speech entitled "Sociological Perspective on the History of Migration on the Turkey-Germany Line", Associate Professor Dr. Hatice Selin Pürselim Arning made her presentation on “An Important Legal Step in the Integration Process Between Turkey and Germany: Blue Card Application”. The first session ended with Prof. Dr. Yusuf Adıgüzel's academic paper entitled "Worker Migration to Germany and Turkish Non-Governmental Organizations".

The second session, moderated by Prof. Dr. M.Macit Kenanoğlu, Chairman of the Immigration and Integration Application and Research Center, was opened with the speech of Author Gülten Dayıoğlu. After the presentations of Hospice President Hamza Cebeci and German IKG Institute President Dr. Latif Çelik, the conference ended with the comments and questions of the participants.
