Certificate Ceremony for Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language

Students who successfully completed the Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language Certificate Program (Training of Trainers) organized within the scope of TAU-SEM received their certificates at a ceremony.
 
On May 12, 2025, the ceremony was held at the Conference Hall of TGU School of Foreign Languages and attended by TGU Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş and Prof. Dr. Hamide Özden Özkaya Ferendeci, Director of the School of Foreign Languages Prof. Dr. Leyla Coşan, Secretary General of TGU Özgür Ali Şirin, Istanbul University Turkish Language Instructor Dr. Funda Keskin and the trainees who were entitled to receive certificates.

The ceremony started with the speech of Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, who gave the opening lecture of the Program on April 15th. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Yıldız stated that Turkish has a history of more than a thousand years and that the Turkish-German University, which has the characteristics of a trilingual university, aims to specialize in teaching Turkish to the native Turkish-speaking children of Turkish families abroad, and announced the establishment of the Turkish Language and Literature and German Language and Literature Departments within the University. Prof. Dr. Yıldız also emphasized that for the Certificate Program on Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language, which was created in line with the mission of the University, they wanted to reflect the knowledge of professors from different universities to this program as much as possible. Prof. Dr. Yıldız stated that they obtained remarkable results in the student satisfaction surveys conducted after the program and gave the good news that the program will be held again. 

The ceremony continued with the speech of Prof. Dr. Elif Nuroğlu, Director of TAU-SEM, who took the floor after the Rector of TAU. In her speech, Prof. Dr. Nuroğlu first gave information about the trainings provided by TAU-SEM and the free training programs and seminars organized within the scope of social responsibility. Emphasizing that the newly introduced trainings are always exciting, Prof. Dr. Nuroğlu expressed her hope that the Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language Program, which was organized for the first time within the scope of TAU-SEM, will be repeated. Addressing the trainees at the end of his speech, Prof. Dr. Nuroğlu expressed his pride in the positive contribution of the training to the professional lives of the students and congratulated the students for their success during the training. 

After the speeches, certificates were presented to the students and the ceremony ended with a souvenir photo session.
