IDA "Digital Competencies and Entrepreneurship Center" Project Closing Meeting was Held

The "Digital Competencies and Entrepreneurship Center" project, which was implemented with the grant support of the Istanbul Development Agency (IDA) in cooperation with Beykoz Municipality and Turkish-German University, was announced with the closing and information meeting held on 13 November 2023 at Soğuksu Yücel Çelikbilek Youth Center. The people who had participated in the project such as Turkish-German University faculty members, instructors and students attended the meeting. At the closing and information meeting of the project, where our university's academic staff provided support in digital content production and digital education platform design, the Mayor of the Beykoz District, Murat Aydın, and our Vice Rector Prof. Aysel Uzuntaş, District Director of National Education in Beykoz, Sevcenur Özcan and Assoc. Prof. Elif Posos Devrani, who is the academic coordinator of the project, made speeches.

Mayor Murat Aydın stated that they aim to discover talented young people.
Furthermore, Mr. Aydın stated that with this project which provides children and young people in the district with equipment and competence in digital technologies, accompanied by experts, they aim to discover talented young people and bring them to the country and help them invest in their future.

Our Vice Rector Prof. Aysel Uzuntaş drew attention to raising awareness of ethical and responsible use of digital competencies and technologies.
She touched upon the importance of training and collaborations within the scope of the project, which provides young people with digital competence and competitiveness in the business world. She said that the joint project in question was carried out with the aim of increasing digital competencies, reducing digital inequality, and providing awareness and vision to our youth.

Beykoz District Director of National Education Sevcenur Özcan stated that young people would see university life closely with trainings at university within the scope of the project.
Stating that an idea centre similar to the idea centres for young people abroad has been put into practice in the district, the District Director of National Education Sevcenur Özcan emphasized that young people would have the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial skills and see university life closely with the trainings prepared by Turkish-German University within the scope of the project.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Posos-Devrani in the Department of Culture and Communication Sciences of our University, who is the academic coordinator of the project, highlighted the importance of the project.
Assoc. Dr. Elif Posos-Devrani gave detailed information about the project and digital education offered to young people in line with the purpose of the project, its subjects and content. He underlined the importance of providing digital competencies for both parents and young people and entrepreneurship education through the training provided within the scope of the project.

Within the scope of the meeting, certificates of appreciation were presented to the faculty members who participated in the project. In this context, our university’s Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences, Culture and Communication Sciences faculty members Prof. Dr. B. Aykut Arıkan, Assoc. Dr. Elif Posos-Devrani, Lecturer Sultan Edip, Lecturer and Sehla Ertan, who are Distance Education Application and Research Center faculty members, received certificates of appreciation for their support and contributions to the project. Subsequently, the makers workshop where robotic coding training was given was visited and detailed examinations were conducted on the online training platform.
