Our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız Attended “Workshop on Teaching Turkish in Turkey and in the World”

On September 26, 2022, the 90th anniversary of the Language Day, “The Workshop on Teaching Turkish in Turkey and in the World” was organized by the Center of Research and Development of Turkish and Language Education (TDEARGEM) which operates under the Ministry of National Education Board of Education and Discipline. The workshop was held in the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World this year, Bursa. Speaking at the session of the workshop titled “Institutions and their Roles in Teaching Turkish to Bilinguals”, Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız made his presentation titled “Bilingualism and Language Acquisition” supported by field data.

In the workshop, language scientists gathered to inform and offer suggestions on the practices and developments in the field of teaching Turkish as a first language, teaching Turkish as as a foreign language, teaching Turkish language to bilinguals, and teaching Turkish language to people of Turkish descent. As a part of the workshop, the main issues and solution proposals were discussed and strategies that would guide the policies of the institutions from an academic point of view were presented. To this consultation and evaluation meeting, held for the first time in its field; Turkish Language Association, Turkish Maarif Foundation, Yunus Emre Institute, and Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities contributed as stakeholder institutions.
