18.01.2024

The first 'Application Weighted Carbon Footprint Calculation Training' of the year, organised in cooperation with TAU-SEM and Allianz Teknik, was held on 15-16 January 2024.

The certified training, which is a joint project of TAU-SEM and Allianz Teknik, was given by Prof. Dr. Aykut Kibritçioğlu, Head of TAU Department of Economics, Environmental Engineer Nilay Çakır and Environmental and Civil Engineer Simge Var from Allianz Teknik. The training, in which the theoretical lecture on Climate Crisis, ISO 14064 standard, EU Green Deal, Carbon Tax at the Border and Emission Trading System was supported by applied carbon footprint calculations, was held at Allianz Teknik Earthquake & Fire Test and Training Centre located on the Turkish-German University Campus.

The training lasted for two days and targeted process leaders in charge of greenhouse gas and carbon footprint calculations, environmental engineers, company representatives, academicians and undergraduate/graduate and doctoral students.

As of October 2023, the training, which attracted high interest due to the Border Carbon Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), which obliges companies exporting from Turkey to the European Union in 6 sectors to report their carbon footprints, will continue to be given at regular intervals.
