29.11.2024

The international symposium entitled “Kultureller Wandel im Spannungsfeld von Kommunikation und der Globalisierung sozialer Praktiken / Cultural Change in the Context of the Globalization of Communication and Social Practices” was inaugurated at our University. Organized by the Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences, the three-day event is being hosted by our institution with the participation of Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, Vice Rector and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, Prof. Dr. Michael Waltisberg, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rainer Schmidt, as well as academics, researchers, and students from both domestic and international institutions.

In his opening address, our Rector stated:

"We are at a point where cultural studies and social sciences can develop new perspectives together to answer the pressing questions of our era. Increasing mediatization and digitalization, global migration movements, and the influence of emerging digital structures are transforming how we perceive ourselves and others, how we consume, work, and communicate. They profoundly impact how social practices emerge and evolve. This conference offers you an opportunity to engage in dialogue, share knowledge, and develop new approaches to exploring cultural change in all its dimensions. I invite you to discuss the opportunities and challenges of the digital age, the influence of media, and the structural changes in our society. I wish you enlightening discussions, inspiring presentations, and valuable insights."

Sponsored by the DAAD, the symposium will continue until November 30. It consists of five sessions, providing academics with a robust platform for qualified discussions.
