“The Second Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language Certificate Program" has begun at our university.
“The Second Certificate Program in Teaching Turkish as a Second Foreign Language (Training of Trainers)", organized at our university with the aim of training qualified trainers in the field of teaching Turkish to foreigners, started online on November 10, 2025.
The opening lecture for the program, which will take place from November 10–21, 2025, was given by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, on November 10, 2025. Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, academics, educators, and students attended the opening lecture.
In his lecture, "The Importance of Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language and as a Mother Tongue to Turkish Children Abroad," Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız emphasized that teaching Turkish is not only a linguistic process but also crucial for preserving cultural identity, developing bilingualism, and strengthening intercultural ties. He stated that teaching Turkish correctly and consciously strengthens children's ties to their families and cultural roots, which in turn strengthens their sense of belonging and contributes to the building of intercultural bridges.
The program, coordinated by Turkish-German University Continuing Education Centre (TGU-CEC), aims to provide theoretical and practical skills to professionals who want to teach Turkish as a foreign language. The program also aims to teach Turkish to the children of multilingual Turkish citizens living abroad, offering participants comprehensive training in language teaching methods, material development, classroom management, and intercultural communication.
At the end of the program, participants who successfully complete the training will be presented with a certificate approved by Turkish-German University.
