Digitalpark Technocity Ataşehir Campus Opened

The opening ceremony of the Turkish-German University and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University Technology Development Zone-Digitalpark Technocity Ataşehir Campus was held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 with the participation of Mehmet Fatih Kacır, the Minister of Industry and Technology, Davut Gül, Istanbul Governor,  Nusret Bayraktar, Digitalpark Technocity Chairman of the Board of Directors,  our Rector Prof. Cemal Yıldız, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University Rector Prof. Yusuf Yılmaz, Tahsin Engin, Digitalpark Technocity General Manager and many guests. At the ceremony, which started with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, the promotional film of Digitalpark Teknokent was screened. Then, the opening ceremony program continued with protocol speeches.

The Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, who spoke at the opening ceremony, said, "I pray to God that the Digitalpark Technocity Ataşehir Campus will bring goodness to our Istanbul, our country and our nation. At the same time, just as a technology bridge was established between Rize and Istanbul, in the same way, in the partnership of our Turkish-German University I hope that the establishment of a technology bridge between Istanbul and Germany will be accelerated. We wish that German entrepreneurs will come and carry out successful businesses here with the brand value of Istanbul. The synergy between Turkish and German entrepreneurs will contribute more to the economic development of both countries. Currently, Turkey is a center of attraction for German investors with its political stability, its young people, its dynamic population and strong logistics connections. We want to realize a similar success story in technology entrepreneurship under the leadership of Digitalpark Technocity. As in every project that will add value to our country and nation, we will always be ready to commit ourselves to such a collaboration."

In his opening speech, Our Rector Prof. Cemal Yıldız stated that Digitalpark Technocity was established in 2019 and rapidly started its activities in 2020. It significantly contributed to the technological and economic life of our country in a short time by growing and developing day by day and supporting the development of the entrepreneurs whom it has incorporated in.

In his speech, our Rector said, “First of all, being one of the founding partners of this formation, where our university can exceed scientific and academic contribution and contribute to the technological and economic life of our country and support the entrepreneurship ecosystem in our country both excited and motivated us at every stage.” He continued his words by saying, “At the point we have reached today, the business volume of approximately ₺ 2.5 billion and the export figures of almost 2 million dollars, realized by more than 100 companies operating in our Technocity in 2023 alone, show how appropriate our excitement is and that our country's high-tech. Furthermore, he said that “The numbers clearly show how justified and appropriate it is for our motivation to increase day by day for development through value-added production.”

Our Rector, who indicated that since its establishment, Turkish-German University has served as a scientifically and academically effective bridge between Turkey and Germany, finalised his words by saying that “Coming together of two successful and productive distinguished universities, located almost at the opposite ends of Turkey, for the benefit of our country, regardless of the distances between them, working together and ultimately succeeding together is the most valuable achievement. I would like to sincerely thank you once again for being with us and for your very valuable participation in this important opening.”

Following the speeches, Digitalpark Technocity Ataşehir Campus was opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the participation of protocol members. The ceremony ended after taking a commemorative photo. There are also entrepreneurs on the Digitalpark Technocity Ataşehir Campus, where the majority of 25 currently active entrepreneurs conduct projects on fintech and the companies carry out work in areas such as chip design and production, smart city solutions, artificial intelligence-chatbot, aviation, autopilot, mobile games, digital identity verifications, health and insurance software.
