Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK) Monitoring Program was Held in Our University

External evaluation processes of higher education institutions in Turkey are carried out regularly by the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK) within the scope of External Evaluation and Monitoring Programs. In this context, higher education institutions that have been evaluated within the scope of the Institutional External Evaluation Program carried out by YÖKAK are included in the Monitoring Program in the second year following the evaluation year at the earliest.

The Monitoring Program, organized by YÖKAK in 44 universities included in the scope of monitoring in 2022, was carried out for the first time on September 30, 2022 at TGU after the external evaluation process in 2019.

The follow-up program which started with an introductory meeting attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, Prof. Dr. Hamide Ozden Ozkaya Ferendeci, Prof. Dr. Ali Gökhan Yavuz and members of YÖKAK Monitoring Team Prof. Dr. Bilal Güneş from Gazi University, Prof. Dr. Hatice Yıldırım Sarı from Izmir Katip Celebi University, and Assoc. Dr. Begüm Yurdakök Özdikmen from Ankara University and Eren Çanga from Hacettepe University continued with the meeting with the General Coordinator Prof. Dr. Ferit Küçükay, where the task sharing in the administrative processes and the quality assurance system of the institution were discussed.

In the first session of the meeting, which was organized in four sessions; the monitoring team met with the Quality Commission, under the moderation of Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş responsible for Quality and they listened to the work of the Quality Commission, the strengths and developmental aspects of the institution and asked questions.

The afternoon session was carried out with the participation of the Senate Members, and Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız continued with a presentation in which he explained the quality processes and quality activities carried out in our university after the external evaluation, improvement studies in education, research and development and social contribution activities.

The last session was held with the academic and administrative quality representatives of our University in line with the "open areas for improvement" in the Institutional Feedback Report. Specific questions from the Monitoring Team were answered by academics and senior managers who are members of various commissions of our university.

Finally, at the closing meeting where the general evaluation was made, it was stated that the improvements made by the Monitoring Team at Turkish-German University in the last 3 years after the Institutional External Evaluation were commendable and positive developments were observed. Under the guidance of Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş responsible for Quality, Quality Unit Officer Dr. Instructor Burcu Ayhan and the academic staff of the Quality Unit Inst. Ebru Baharlı, it was noted that the success achieved in quality management processes is a step towards preparation for institutional accreditation. It was stated that the final report to be prepared by the Monitoring Team members will be submitted to the university administration after it is submitted to YÖKAK.
