Our Rector Prof. Dr. Yıldız and Our Academic Members Participated in the ‘Turkish-German Media Forum’
The ‘Turkish-German Media Forum’, organized by the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Directorate of Communications on April 9, 2025, was an important event aimed at increasing cooperation and cultural interaction in the field of media with the participation of our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations Prof. Dr. Enes Bayraklı and Department of Culture and Communication Sciences Faculty Member Dr. Büşra Fadim Sarıkaya Tünalp.
Three panels were held at the forum, titled “Turkish-German Cooperation in Media,” “Turkish Diaspora in Germany,” and “The Role of the Media in the Age of Disinformation.” The first session of the forum addressed the topic of “Turkish-German Cooperation in Media.” Our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız moderated the panel. Participants included former German Ambassador to Ankara Dr. Eckart Cuntz, Hürriyet Newspaper European Coordinator Ahmet Külahçı, and Stern Journal Diplomacy Correspondent and TV Berlin Editor-in-Chief Dursun Yiğit. The panel discussed the current situation between the Turkish and German media and the role of media relations between the two countries.
In the second panel titled "Turkish Diaspora in Germany: The Role of Media in Representation and Cultural Relations", our University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Enes Bayraklı took on the role of moderator. The panel featured speakers Dr. Latif Çelik, President of the German IKG Institute, Ali Paşa Akbaş, Channel Europe Editor-in-Chief, and Dr. Büşra Fadim Sarıkaya Tünalp, our University Faculty Member. In this context, the current situation of the Turkish Diaspora in Germany was examined and solution proposals were presented for strengthening cultural representation through the media and developing relations between the two countries.
This forum served as an important platform aiming to strengthen cooperation between Turkish and German media and establish a more effective dialogue.
