Turkish-German University Bands Together with the Earthquake Victims

10.02.2023

Following the earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 and 7.6 that took place in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023, causing great losses in 10 cities, an in-kind aid campaign initiated by the university management and students continues.

Under the coordination of the Earthquake Emergency Support Unit established within the university, the in-kind donations collected within the scope of the campaign carried out with the devoted support of our students are being delivered to the disaster centres determined by the Beykoz District Governor's Office. Our students, who voluntarily participated in the sorting and placing of aids collected in our university and transferring to Anadolu Hisarı Secondary School, which was designated as a disaster centre, and loading them on trucks by creating a human chain, continue to work until late hours.

On February 9, 2023 our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız visited the students and staff of the Turkish-German University, who have been working devotedly for days to help those in need in the earthquake zone, at Anadolu Hisarı Secondary School, where they were working and conveyed his appreciation. Our General Coordinator Prof. Dr. Ferit Küçükay, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş and Ali Gökhan Yavuz, our faculty deans, and Turkish and German academics also participated in this endeavour and provided assistance. Our Rector Yıldız, who received information about the campaign, particularly urgent needs, and listened to the requests about the issues that our University can contribute to, helped the in-kind donation boxes to be transported and congratulated the Turkish-German University students and staff on their solidarity.
